The drug Abipim: instructions for use

Abipim is a high-quality medical product for the treatment of infectious diseases. It has an active effect against a large number of pathogenic organisms. When applied correctly, it does not adversely affect the body.

International non-proprietary name

The code is J01DE01. Medicines with antimicrobial and bactericidal action.

Abipim is a high-quality medical product for the treatment of infectious diseases.

Forms of release and composition

Available in the form of a solution for injections of 500 mg. There is a lyophilized powder for intravenous and intramuscular injections, which must be diluted in sterile water for injections.

pharmachologic effect

Treats antibacterial agents of 4 generations. Designed specifically for parenteral use. It acts against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, especially against strains resistant to antibacterial drugs of the 2nd and 3rd generation.

Inhibits the formation of protein microbes, causing them to die. Moreover, the minimum effective concentration is much lower than that of analogues, which makes it possible to use the medicine less frequently and use smaller doses.

Active against such organisms:

  • Staphylococcus aureus (including those strains that produce beta-lactamase);
  • S. hominis, S. saprophyticus and other staphylococcal strains;
  • Streptococcus pyogenes and agalactiae, including those strains that are resistant to Penicillin;
  • Streptococcus pneumoniae and other organisms that cause pneumonia;
  • Enterococcus faecalis and other enterobacteria strains;
  • Gram-negative aerobic organisms: Pseudomonas spp, Enterobacter spp. (including E. cloacae, E. aerogenes, E. sakazakii), Proteus spp. (including P. mirabilis, P. vulgaris), Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (including the subfamily Anitratus, Iwoffi), Aeromonas hydrophila, Capnocytophaga spp., Citrobacter spp. (including C. diversus, C. freundii), Campylobacter jejuni, Gardnerella vaginalis, Haemophilus ducreyi;
  • H. influenzae and Parainfluenzae;
  • Neisseria gonorrhoeae;
  • anaerobic organisms: bacteroids, including melaninogenicus;
  • Clostridium perfringens;
  • Fusobacterium: Fusobacterium spp.

Abipim is designed specifically for parenteral use.

The drug can be applied in the event that it is not possible to establish the pathogen. This property is explained by the fact that the medical preparation is active relative to many pathogenic microorganisms.

The product is completely absorbed after parenteral administration. The averaged concentrations of the active compound reach a maximum 60 minutes after the injection, then rapidly decrease.

The drug content of the substance is found in urine, bile, peritoneal and prostatic secretions, sputum, bronchial secretions. Some amounts of the remedy are found in the appendix.

The half-time for the active ingredient is 120 minutes; does not depend on dosage. Cumulation of Abipim is not observed even with the use of high doses for a long time, which allows the use of medication for the treatment of severe infectious pathologies.

In the body it decomposes to methylpyrrolidine, which quickly transforms into methylpyrrolidone oxide. Excreted by the glomeruli of the kidneys. Through the urine goes most of the medical preparation and only a minor - with feces. Associated with the proteins of blood plasma by about 20%.

The period of half-breeding may increase in patients with impaired renal function; they need a dose adjustment. In other cases, the pharmacokinetic features do not change.

How to take Abipim

Dosing for an adult is 1 g per day. Enter into a muscle or in a venous vessel 2 times a day with a break at 12 o'clock. It is necessary to observe the same interval of administration to avoid side effects and improve the effectiveness of treatment.

The dosage varies depending on the type of pathogen and the intensity of the development of the infectious process.

There are various dosage options and methods of drug administration:

  • with pathologies of the urinary tract - from 0.5 to 1 g 2 times a day;
  • for other mild and moderate infections, 1 g intramuscularly or intravenously, 2 times a day;

Influence on ability to operate mechanisms

MP may affect the functioning of the nervous system. For the period of therapy it is better to refuse to drive a car and work with complex mechanisms that require increased attention.

special instructions

In patients with an increased risk of developing infectious lesions with a history of bone marrow transplantation, MP activity decreases. Abipim monotherapy may be insufficient and ineffective, so you need the appointment of another tool. In this case, the patient may develop progressive neutropenia, so during therapy it is necessary to constantly monitor blood counts.

Before starting treatment, it is necessary to determine whether the patient has ever had rapid reactions to Cefepime and other cephalosporins. With all types of allergies, it is necessary to prescribe such drugs carefully. In the event of an allergy reaction, the patient is urgently stopped.

When the manifestations of severe manifestations of the patient should be administered adrenaline.

At occurrence of severe manifestations, the patient should be administered adrenaline or noradrenaline.

The use of antibacterial drugs with a wide spectrum of action may provoke the development of pseudomembranous inflammation of the large intestine. This can manifest as diarrhea. Mild forms of colitis pass quickly without special treatment. For other pathologies of the digestive system, cephalosporins should be prescribed carefully, following the human reaction.

The use of the drug may contribute to the development of superinfection.

The use of any antimicrobial medications, incl. and Abipyma, brings with it a change in the bacterial flora that causes the appearance of clostridia in the intestine. These processes contribute to the development of antibiotic-associated colitis.

Use in old age

Age is not an indication for dosage change. But you should reduce the number of medications for older people with a change in the work of the kidneys.

Appointment to children

The tool can be applied to children from the age of one month. In this case, the dose is chosen strictly depending on the age of the child and the degree of intensity of the infectious process.

Patients suffering from renal pathologies may have pronounced hallucinations after the drug.
Patients with renal pathologies may have myoclonium after the drug.
Patients suffering from renal pathologies may have convulsions after the drug.

Persons weighing 40 kg and no longer need to change the dose.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The use of Abipyma is unacceptable in the period of 1 trimester. In the future, MP is prescribed, if the benefit is greater than the possible risk.

The drug is able to penetrate into breast milk and cause a violation of the infant’s development, therefore, it is desirable to stop breastfeeding during therapy with this MP.

Use in violation of kidney function

It is necessary to correct the dose of the medicine to prevent poisoning. With a decrease in creatinine clearance, the dose is reduced in order to compensate for the slow release. In severe kidney diseases, it is more advisable to prescribe a maintenance therapeutic dose of the drug in order to minimize the negative effects of renal pathology.

Patients suffering from renal pathologies recorded the following side effects:

  • disturbance and confusion, hallucinations, stupor, coma;
  • myoclonus;
  • convulsions.

Such life-threatening conditions were recorded most often in those who took high doses of Abipyma.

Use in violation of the liver

Caution should be exercised with lesions of the liver, hepatitis and cirrhosis.

If the dose is exceeded, brain damage may occur.
If the dose is exceeded, nervous irritability may occur.
If the dose is exceeded, coma may develop.

Overdose of the drug is possible only if the patient has exceeded the recommended and acceptable doses. In each case, overdose developed signs of side effects. Other manifestations of overdose:

  • brain damage and the appearance of characteristic symptoms of encephalopathy;
  • threatening hallucinations;
  • coma;
  • asthenia;
  • stupor;
  • strong muscular and nervous irritability.

In case of overdose stop the introduction of funds. Specific antidote is not developed. It is possible to accelerate the removal of the medication using hemodialysis. At occurrence of severe allergic reactions, adrenaline and noradrenaline solutions should be administered.

Interaction with other drugs

It is necessary to monitor the work of the kidneys, especially if the patient uses other nephrotoxic substances. It is important in the use of furosemide and other diuretics. In some cases, with this combination of drugs there was an increase in nephrotoxicity.

Compatible for such medications:

  • saline;
  • glucose solution;
  • glucose with lactate.

It is not recommended to enter at the same time:

  • Metronidazole;
